A HEARTFELT message from a grieving Mum is one of a number of tributes left at Wokingham Station after a teenager was electrocuted on the tracks.
The incident happened late on Friday evening, and already a large number of tributes have been left outside the station. As well as flowers, they include an Arsenal football shirt, a bottle of beer and several bottles of the Lucozade energy drink.
A single candle heads up the memorial display.
A hand-written note from the teenager’s Mum said: “My beloved son James – only 19, my youngest son with so much to live for. Be safe and happy. Love you always and forever. Mum xxx”
Another tribute praised James for being a ‘wonderful soul’.
“We will never forget your silly ways and heart of gold. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for the laughs and thank you for the memories.
“Fly high and shine bright!
“We love you very much and will miss you greatly.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Wokingham station at 11.20pm on Friday, February 1, following reports that a person had been injured on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however a 19-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining serious injuries consistent with electrocution.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A post on social media seen by The Wokingham Paper by James’ Mum said: “Police informed me in the early hours of the morning that my youngest son James died last night on Wokingham train station tracks. He was electrocuted.
“I have identified him this morning. No parent should ever have to do that.”
