A patch of woodland in Wokingham will come under the hammer in an auction ending on November 1.
The land, which covers three-quarters of an acre, is located on Sandy Lane off Barkham Road.
It is close to plots of land which sold for just £10 in Septemberat an auction by the same firm.
Wokingham Today understands the land is being sold by the same developer as those previous lots.
Mike Marchant, a senior auction appraiser with Clive Emson, said: “We anticipate keen interest from prospective buyers looking to own a piece of Berkshire.”
But anyone expecting a similar bargain this time will be disappointed.
The guide price for the patch of woodland is £5,000. The auctioneer confirmed this is the price or estimate of what an auction lot would go for as an acceptable sale price to the seller.
Lots can be sold for less than the guide price, but normally they are either around the guide price or higher.
A search on Wokingham Borough Council’s planning portal revealed the site was the subject of a planning application for a dwelling and associated garage in 1998, but it was subsequently withdrawn.
Linda, a local resident, told Wokingham Today: “‘I’m disappointed that the seller hasn’t advertised any of this land locally.
“There might be several residents who would be interested.
“These sales appear to be odd plots of surplus land following new houses being built.
“I would have hoped that after making a tidy profit the developer would have had the decency to make residents aware’
The freehold site is currently overgrown and densely wooded. It is among 134 lots listed by the auctioneer across southern Englandat its monthly sale.
