SCOUTS can enjoy a range of activities following their flea market sale.
2nd Woodley Scout Group’s table top event was attended by former Wokingham borough mayor Cllr Beth Rowlands, and was considered a great success.
Group leader Chas Randle, said: “Our flea market sale proved to be as popular as ever, helping us to continue to offer a wide range of exciting activities to all our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
“We really appreciated the fantastic support from a team of local volunteers who helped set up the tables and arranging the sale items, and from those who advertised the event.
“We would also like to thank everyone who came along – it really helped us to achieve a very good result.”
Despite the day’s wet weather forecast the Scouts enjoyed a day of sunshine that allowed them to extend their sale outside.
Chas continued: “We were delighted that Wokingham borough mayor Cllr Beth Rowland paid us a visit.
“She has supported our Scouts over many years, attending various events and activities.”
Cllr Rowland said: “I was delighted to attend the table top sale at the Scout hut recently, and have supported the Scouts in all the good work that they do in our town.
“There are so many distractions for our children nowadays and it is good to see that the Scouting movement is still going strong in Woodley.
“Thank you to all who attended that day – I hope profits from the event can support the group for years to come.”
2nd Woodley Scout Group offers its members opportunities to take part in craft and puppet shows, camping and outdoor challenges.
Members contribute to community work, fund raising, learn first aid and life skills, and enjoy team building and having fun.
They can also try unusual activities including: indoor sky diving, dragon boat racing, television programme production, and 10 pin Bowling.
