COMMUTING by solar-powered travelator, a hover-jetski, and a skateboard that turns into a pogo stick were just some of the creative entries sent in by borough children when they entered a green travel competition earlier this year.
Now they have another opportunity to have fun creating a poster that will remind car drivers not to leave the engine running.
My Journey Wokingham team’s art competition for Earth Day 2026 attracted fun and amusing responses, while helping to inspire children and their families to travel more sustainably.
Pupils at schools across the borough designed an environmentally friendly and futuristic way of getting around.
Almost 200 children entered, and the winners and runners-up were awarded prizes.
All year round, My Journey Wokingham works to inspire children and their families to travel more sustainably.
It’s aim is to reduce the environmental impact of transport and help everyone live healthier lifestyles.
Now, My Journey and VolkerHighways invites children to get creative again, to help spread an important message – to switch off the car’s engine when parked.
Winning designs will be transformed into professional banners and displayed at school gates, helping to encourage cleaner air and healthier communities across the borough.
