“TELL ME, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” writes poet Mary Oliver.
Whatever our age, we could ask ourselves that question this month.
Your life is precious. What do you want to do with it?
If we are fortunate enough to be able to go on holiday or take a break, time away can give us space and another way of looking at things.
We step back from our usual routines and perhaps find ourselves reflecting on what really matters.
Is this how you want your life to be?
Big life events- baptisms, weddings, and funerals, changing school, moving house, redundancy, facing illness can also make us question our lives.
They stop us in our tracks and make us wonder if there is something more.
Are you feeling unsettled, restless, burdened?
What is it you want to change in your life?
One thing you could decide to do this July is to try praying to God (if you pray already, pray more!)
Prayer is like any conversation where you talk, and you listen.
Jesus tells a story of a loving father running towards his son with open arms, even though that son had turned away from him.
God is like that father, Jesus says, full of love, compassion and welcome.
God is waiting for you, arms open, so why not talk to him right now?
Not sure what God might say? Try reading Matthew 11: 28-30.
This week’s guest contributor is Rev. Anthea Platt, associate priest at All Saints Church, which meets on Sundays at 9.30am.
