The annual Wargrave Sprint Triathlon will tkae place next month and entries to take part in the event are still open.
The event will takes place on Sunday, September 15 after being moved from its original June date due to an issue on the swim course.
Athletes will take on the challenge of a 750m swim which is then followed up by a 20k cycle before ending with a 5k run.
The swim begins in Ferry Lane, Wargrave with the 750m swim in the Thames River, swimming up stream toward ‘the bridge’, past the Bushnell’s Marina, around a giant boy and back downstream to the jetty at Ferry Lane.
Marshals on kayaks will be there to guide or support participants as needed during the swim.
Athletes will then get on their bikes at Mill Green. The cycle route is described as a scenic 20k route which heads out of Wargrave toward Bath Road, left at the roundabout with a steady incline towards Burchett’s Green. Over the speedbumps, left at the roundabout onto Henley Road, through Hurley Bottom, down Remenham Hill, left onto Wargrave Road and back to Mill Green.
Then finally, racers will take on the 5k run which consists of a 1.25k loop as they head down Station Road before a glass of champagne awaits them at the finish line.
Organisers of the event said: “The Wargrave Sprint Triathlon is one of the highlights of the calendar for the Wargrave community.
“Cyclists, swimmers and runners from all over the local area join in for this fun and challenging race.
“Come prepared for some healthy competition, a fun environment and warm welcome from village supporters.”
