DURING Carers Week in June, Peach Place provided some special time for those looking after a loved one.
The Bradbury Centre, run by Wokingham Methodist Church, hosted the week’s activities.
Claire Knight, Church & Community Outreach Team Leader explained:
“ It was all about nurturing the carers.
“A week just for them, a chance for them to be spoiled a bit.”
The event was really well attended, with a number of different activities.
“There was a pampering session, and afternoon tea,” continued Claire.
“We provided the space.
“Alexandra Grange Care Home provided the lunches.
“And Tu Vida provided many of the activities.”
Tu Vida is an organisation dedicated to supporting carers and their families.
The Bradbury Centre hosts regular support meetings for carers and their loved ones.
Its Alzheimers Cafe runs fortnightly on Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm.
This is an informal time, with songs and chat.
And the Alzheimers Carers Group runs monthly on Tuesdays from 1pm to 2.30pm.
It is a support and networking group, where people can get together over lunch.
They can ask questions, seek advice, share solutions.
