A man has been sentenced to almost two years’ imprisonment after he was convicted of a string of motoring offences following a hearing at Reading Crown Court.
On Monday, March 25, Luke Joseph, 21 and from Raleigh Close, Woodley, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed limit, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and possession of a class B drug – cannabis.
He was jailed for one year and 10 months, further disqualified from driving for three years and 11 months and ordered to take an extended driving test when his disqualification expires.
At around 8.30pm on Saturday, December 8, officers from Thames Valley Police pursued Joseph through streets in Woodley.
Joseph was subsequently arrested and provided positive tests for the use of cannabis.
He was already disqualified, had no insurance, and was found in possession of six bags of cannabis.
Investigating officer PC James Baker, of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing based at Three Mile Cross, said: “Joseph showed a complete and flagrant disregard for other road users, failing to comply with traffic signals and crossing major junctions without slowing.
“The pursuit was brought to an end and, thankfully, his actions did not result in any injuries to anybody. The court dealt with this criminality robustly and he will now have time in prison to reflect.”
