More details have been released about a new restaurant that is set to open in Wokingham later this year.
In January, Wokingham Today revealed Lucky’s Diner had plans to open a unit at Elms Walk in Wokingham.
Signage has now appeared on the unit, and the company has confirmed it plans to open later “before autumn”.
A spokesperson told Wokingham Today: “Lucky’s Diner is vastly expanding its wings.
“We are proud to have secured the site in Wokingham, which resonates with our brand by offering a blend of traditional charm and modern amenities.
“We’re looking forward to serving our lovely customers before autumn this year.”
With more than 20 years’ experience in the restaurant and kitchen development sector, Lucky ‘s Diner was founded by Hasan Habib.
He was passionate about creating a QSR (quick service restaurant) that couldn’t be “pigeon-holed” as a one product customer offer.
He focussed on developing cooking techniques that enabled a varied continental-style menu to be developed and sold within a QSR environment.
So while everyone around him was developing single product offerings, Hasan opened the first Lucky’s Diner in Oldham in 2018.
Further branches followed in Stockport, and elsewhere in north-west England. The Wokingham franchise is believed to be the fifth location, and will be the first in southern England.
The menu currently offers a wide range of burgers, fried chicken, small plates and nibbles, platters and wraps. One of the dishes on the current menu is The Chef’s Challenge.
Described as ‘Not for the faint hearted’ it is a stack burger comprising an Angus beef burger, a grilled peri chicken fillet, a spicy Southern-fried fillet, pulled BBQ chicken, melted cheese. Accompaniments include lettuce, mayonnaise as standard, and it is served in a brioche bun with fries and a drink.
The spokesperson added: “Lucky’s Diner aims for a culinary experience where comfort meets sophistication.
“We have something to tantalise every taste bud.”
