Wokingham borough council has recently taken a detailed look at how bus services in the borough have been improving, and how it is going to build on that.
It has decided to extend support for part of Thames Valley Buses’ 151 service, which was facing cancellation next month due to financial challenges.
This will continue access between the Bean Oak area and Wokingham town centre and station until new contracts with bus operators start next year.
On Saturdays, the Norreys area will be served by an extended 151A service.
These changes come into effect on Monday, August 3. The council is funding this with government contributions through its Bus Service Improvement Plan.
From September, Reading Buses will also be running an additional service during the weekday morning peak on its Little Oranges 19b and Claret 21 routes between Earley and Reading.
This is in response to feedback that they’re getting crowded at these times.
