Great Western Railway has paid tribute to England Women’s incredible Euro 2022 success on the side of one of their trains.

The Lionesses made history in front of a record breaking crowd at Wembley Stadium to be crowned as European champions.

Ella Toone put Sarina Weigman’s team in front with an audacious lob over the goalkeeper, but Germany levelled the game to take it to extra-time.

With the game looking as if it was heading for a dreaded penalty shootout, Chloe Kelly delivered with a goal that will be remembered for generations as she poked the ball in from a corner to give the Lionesses a 2-1 victory.

GWR has commemorated England’s win on the side of their Intercity Express Train 800316.

GWR human resources director Ruth Busby said: “The Lionesses have captured the hearts of the nation with their performances over the past month and I’m delighted we are celebrating their Euro 2022 triumph on one of our Intercity Express Trains.
