Lonely Robot – Why Do We Stay?
Last year Reading-based musician and producer John Mitchell was invited to play some acoustic shows in France, Germany and Holland.
They went so well that a London show was arranged for earlier this month at The Camden Club and it was a sell-out.
John was joined throughout the set by his friend and fellow musician Jez Fielder, who was the perfect companion for John’s evening of Songs and Stories providing guitar and backing vocals to complement John’s excellent voice and musicianship.
He also was the perfect foil to John, with some hilarious banter between the two musicians during the fascinating reminiscences.
The songs came from throughout John’s career plus one or two covers with the duo also being joined on stage for a couple of songs by vocalist, Leddra Chapman. Watch out for a new album from her later this year.
She sang two excellent duets with John including this brilliant song. That’s a good excuse to give it a listen here. It’s one of my all-time faves and this version, where John duets with the wondrous Kim Seviour, was a bonus track on his Lonely Robot album The Big Dream.

Who Ate All The Crayons – Tired
It’s another well-crafted and performed single from the band that will be playing at a Jamma-promoted gig at Brewdog Reading on Friday, May 3, with Bone-Idle (see below). Kyros – Esoterica (Radio Edit)
Despite playing all over the world, Kyros, on our White Star Records label, have never played in Reading.
