Plans have been submitted to Wokingham borough council that could see five ‘gypsy and traveller’ pitches created in Swallowfield.
Agents for the landowners said the site comprises a parcel of land measuring 0.31 hectares with an existing access point taken at the junction of Charlton Lane and Trowes Lane in the village.
The land is vacant, and is located in the countryside some 250 metres south of the development location of Swallowfield.
The plans involved using the site for five pitches, each to include a caravan, touring caravan, day room, bin store and two. parking spaces.
The agent noted that in light of the current lack of a five year supply of gypsy and traveller pitches in Wokingham borough, the tilted balance in favour of sustainable development is engaged.
The statutory consultation on the plans remains open until June 19.
