Reading have completed the signing of teenage defender Jacob Brown following the expiry of his contract at Luton Town.
The experienced 28-year-old joins the Royals on a two-year deal having spent three years with the Hatters, which included a loan at Portsmouth last season in the Championship.
Brown is known for his versatility and can play as a forward, winger or a wing-back.
He featured for Luton in their season in the Premier League in 2023/24 and netted two goals in 19 top flight appearances.
His highest scoring campaign came for Stoke City in 2021/22 when he scored 13 goals in 45 Championship games.
Reading manager Leam Richardson said: “We’re really pleased to bring Jacob to Reading. He’s a player we’ve admired for a long time because he gives you so much.
“He’s athletic, works incredibly hard for the team, can play in a number of attacking positions and shown throughout his career that he can score goals at a high level.
“As well as his qualities on the pitch, he’s a brilliant character who brings a wealth of experience and will fit into the culture we’re building here.
“He has played at the top flight, has international experience with Scotland and has a real desire to come here and be part of what we’re trying to achieve.
“We’re looking forward to working with him. I know he’ll give absolutely everything for this football club and I’m sure our supporters will enjoy watching him in a Reading shirt.”
The Royals have now made three signings ahead of the upcoming season having brought Kyreece Lisbie from Colchester United and Odoka Godwin-Malife from Burton Albion.
