The Post Office, currently inside the TG Jones in Wokingham, will be retained in the town centre if the business were to close.
At last week’s full council meeting, councillor Jane Ainsley asked councillor Mark Ashwell, the executive member for business and economic development, for an update on the potential closure of TG Jones, and its post office in Wokingham town centre.
Replying, councillor Ashwell said: “We are acutely aware that TG Jones is planning to close 150 of its 400 outlets across the country.
“All outlets have been put on notice in this regard, so we’re lobbying TG Jones hard to keep our outlet in the town centre because it operates our post office.
“We’re also actively looking at the potential relocation of that post office to adjacent businesses as a contingency.
“Certainly, we will retain our valued post office in Wokingham town centre “
