MEMBERS of a self advocacy group for people with learning disabilities enjoyed an evening of dancing, held in All Saints Church.
It proved to be the perfect location for a barn dance, with 120 people, including members of CLASP Wokingham, able to dance the night away.
“We had a wonderful evening at the brilliant barn dance, with a full house of people enjoying themselves together,” said independence support worker Michele Munro.
“We had delicious food and drink, totally toe-tapping live music from Craigievar Ceilidh Band, fabulous company and some awesome dancing.
“We know just how much effort went into this evening, and we appreciate all the hard work before, during and after.
“A big thank you from everyone at CLASP for our evening of smiles, laughter and fun, and to Walkers, Tesco Wokingham, Waitrose Wokingham, Morrisons Woosehill, and Cook Wokingham, for their donations.”
All Saints Church was refurbished last year to make it accessible and welcoming to everyone in the community.
“This is exactly the sort of community event that we had in mind when we were planning the refurbishment,” said All Saints Church’s SpaceForAll project manager Anne King.
“It fulfilled everything we were trying to achieve.
“It was such a lovely community event with people getting together to have fun.
“Half of the people who came were from All Saints, and the other half were from CLASP Wokingham.
“We all enjoyed the music from local Woodley band Craigievar, and it was great to see almost everyone dancing.”
The event was not intended as a fundraiser, but also made £500 for CLASP and SpaceForAll.
