Graffiti in Wokingham town centre has been removed with help from a councillor.
Labour’s Andy Croy, who is both a town and borough councillor, took matters into his own hands when he saw an increasing amount of graffiti himself.
He and his Wescott ward colleagues, with help from Wokingham Town Council, removed what he described as “horrible” graffiti, from signs at Langborough Recreation Ground, electrical cabinets in Market Place, road signs in Priest Avenue and in Elms Field.
He even got Tim Starkey, Labour’s candidate in the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner elections, involved in the clean up during his visit to Wokingham on Tuesday.
Andy, who is leader of the Labour group at both councils, said: “I have been busy working hard to make our area cleaner and tidier.
“I have been logging the graffiti I see to make sure I can remove it – like I did at these locations.”
He has also created a map, accessible from the www.wokinghamlabourparty.org website, and is asking anyone who sees anything that has not already been reported to let him know.
Andy is not the only town councillor to tackle the issue of graffiti personally.
Councillor, and former town mayor Tony Lack has also been involved in removing offensive signs and messages around Wokingham.
