A GROUP of friends from borough organisation Optalis (which supports older people and adults with a disability or mental health needs) delivered chocolate joy to people in hospital.
Part of a group called Focussed Friends, the members, all with learning disabilities, meet at the Optalis Wokingham Community Lives day service.
They talk about local issues, and discuss how they can play a part in their community.
Last month they wanted to brighten the Easter weekend for those spending the holiday in hospital.
A total of 48 Easter eggs were gifted, with each one carefully tagged with handmade messages of get well wishes and kindness.
Group members Anne and Louis said: “It’s important to us that people show kindness.”
The donation was made possible thanks to a joint effort between members of Focussed Friends who raised funds to purchase eggs, and a generous contribution from Wokingham Morrisons.
Kelly Story, senior activity support organiser said: “Gemma the customer champion from Morrisons has been very supportive and donated more than half the Easter eggs we needed.
“We’re very grateful to Morrisons for helping us deliver this Easter treat for patients.”
Group member Jonathan added: “Thank you to Optalis and Morrisons for helping Focussed Friends deliver Easter gifts once more.
“I felt proud of everyone when we walked into the ward.”
The eggs were handed over to the hospital with members of Focussed Friends present to share their warm wishes and to personally deliver the gifts.
Group member Paula said: “I hope the eggs made people smile.”
