An image published by Wokingham Reform about housing numbers in the borough appears to have used an image under the tagline “Our market town” which bears no resemblance to Wokingham.
The infographic, which includes references to the number of houses approved and planned in the borough, was published on social media last week.
It said: “Wokingham will always be a historic market town, but the scale of development now approved and proposed raises legitimate questions about whether it will continue to feel like one.”
Enquiries by Wokingham Today have revealed the image was likely created by AI to be a generic image of a British market town, and may not be a physical location.
Reform UK has recently appointed Colin Wright, an AI specialist, as its new chairman for Wokingham.
Wokingham Reform has yet to reply to a request for comment from Wokingham Today.
