YOUNGSTERS at a Finchampstead prep school challenged themselves to complete a fundraising run for The Cowshed.

Waverley Prep School Key Stage 2 pupils took part in a 5K race that saw them complete nine laps of the school’s field.

Despite wet and windy weather, the runners tackled the course with enthusiasm, resilience and plenty of smiles.

A spokesperson for Waverley Prep School said: “We are incredibly proud of our Key Stage 2 pupils.

“They showed tremendous perseverance, teamwork and kindness throughout the event.

“The atmosphere was wonderful and it was fantastic to see our whole school community come together to support such an important local charity.”

Adding to the fun and sense of community, teachers joined the children on the course, along with a few four-legged canine supporters, creating a memorable afternoon for everyone involved.

Thanks to the efforts of the pupils and the generosity of families and supporters, the school has raised £781 for The Cowshed.

The Wokingham based charity provides practical support to individuals and families experiencing hardship across Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

Through donations of clothing, household items, baby equipment and other essential goods, the charity helps people facing challenging circumstances rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Waverley Prep School is an independent preparatory school and nursery for children aged three months to 11 years.

In The Times Top 100 for the past 14 years and ranked 15th in the UK, Waverley is committed to nurturing confident, compassionate and well-rounded young people.

Alongside academic excellence, the school places importance on developing character, community engagement and a sense of social responsibility, encouraging pupils to make a positive difference both within and beyond the school gates.
