MEMBERS of a fundraising group that raises thousands of pounds for good causes in the borough each year sat down together to mark the club’s continued success.
Wokingham Lions Club enjoyed an annual Charter Lunch held at The Walter Arms, Sindlesham.
They celebrated the club’s 52nd anniversary and congratulated outgoing president Gee May on a very successful year.
Gee then presented Paul Baily with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award, which is the highest humanitarian honour awarded by Lions Clubs International.
Named after the founder of the organisation, the fellowship recognises individuals who demonstrate a profound commitment to humanitarian service and community.
Gee also presented Tim Hanton with his 15 year service award and Jonathan and Sarah Blane with their three year service awards.
Then the presidency was handed over to new club president, Jennifer Rawsthorn, while incoming Wokingham Town Council Mayor Councillor Alwyn Jones was made an honorary member of the club.
Wokingham Lions Club enjoys social sessions throughout the year, and runs major events in the town throughout the year.
